BJ900 is a Mug Press of new mechanical design for printing photo mugs / tankards / mini mugs / liqueurs / thermoses .. with upper lever closing. It has an elegant mechanical design with adjustable ceramic clamping pressure. It enables panaromatic printing around the entire mug. It comes with 6 heating pads - included in the price of the press, with the heating pad for standard/smaller mugs slotted into the mechanical planchet for quick and easy replacement, conical and other inserts are changed as a whole (heating pad in a metal plate) by loosening four screws. Additional heaters are gradually being added to the Mug Press (currently 4 types) as new items for printing come to the market - new Heaters are offered as option, you can order them via the e-shop (link below). Digital el. the unit measures time (adjustable 0 - 999 sec) and controls the temperature of the heating element (adjustable 90 - 220 C). Settings are made simply using the membrane keyboard. Workflow |
Ceramics printing workflow (classic Mug Press) 1 Print a mirror image on sublimation paper (e.g. Ricoh, Epson printer) - you must use special sublimation ink ! 2 Stick the picture on the mug with 2 pieces of self-adhesive ( heat-resistant ) fixing tape If the pressure and time and temperature are already set on the Mug Press ( see next chapter ) .. turn on the press with the main switch and wait for the insert to heat up to the BASE TEMPERATURE (the press indicates readiness with an occasional beep) 3 Insert the mug from the side into the open Mug Press, lower the lever and press the button with the "square" icon on the membrane keyboard. Once you put a cold mug in the Mug Press and the insert is heated to the BASE TEMPERATURE, the temperature starts to drop first as the ceramic cools the heating padt. The temperature gradually starts to climb up to the WORKING TEMPERATURE, when the Mug Press automatically switches to the set TIME countdown mode. The set seconds (approx. 40 sec) are gradually counted down and at the end the Mug Press emits an audio signal - end the cycle by pressing the button with the "square" icon again, open the Mug Press, remove the ceramics from the press (the temperature will return to the basic temperature - if you do not want to continue using the Mug Press, turn it off ) 4 Carefully peel off the sublimation paper with your fingernail and let the ceramic cool WE RECOMMEND / TIPS : * When inserting the mug from the side, open the heater enough so that you do not accidentally bend the corner of the sublimation paper against the heating pad. * As the mug handle remains cold during the entire printing cycle, immediately after the cycle is finished you can pull out the mug by the handle and check quality of the print - slightly bend the corners of the still-glued sublimation paper with your fingernail and make sure that you have a contrasting and identical print under all corners - if not (either with a low temperature or with a squeezed insert from another type of ceramic) - turn the mug 180 degrees and put it in the Mug Press once more and repeat the whole cycle. * If you want to peel off the sublimation paper from the vow mugs, be very careful, because this type of coating is soft when hot and if you drive your fingernail into the coating, you will break through the top color changing layer and there will be permanently visible white scratch. It is best to take the picture off after the mug has partially cooled. |

Setting the basic / working
temperature and time
The Mug Press we deliver has a correctly set electronic unit, however, if you are going to change it, for example because of a different type of ceramic / a different type of coating, please proceed as follows: BASIC TEMPERATURE SETTING Press the MODE button 1x (SET lights up) = default 90 (set to 140 by us) Using the "plus" and "minus" buttons, you can set the basic temperature to e.g. 140 C / 250 F so that the press is always immediately ready for transfer ( if the Mug Press is not in use, please turn it off ) SETTING THE WORKING TEMPERATURE Press the MODE button twice (SET + TEMP lights up) = 160 - 170 C* / 320 F Use the "plus" and "minus" buttons to set the working temperature according to the type of coating / ceramic. TIME SETTING Press the MODE button 3 times (SET + TIME is lit) = 40 (sec) * Use the "plus" and "minus" buttons to set the time for which the press will heat the ceramics after reaching the working temperature. (default values remain in the device's memory, i.e. when the press is switched on again, the defaults are identical to the values when the press was last switched off). Press the MODE button 4 times - original state, only the current temperature of the heater is displayed. RECOMMENDED / TIPS : * The lower base temperature reduces the thermal shock that the ceramic absorbs when placed in a heated press. This is especially important for glass products (danger of cracking due to uneven heating) * It is advisable to fine-tune the ideal working temperature gradually on the specific Mug Press and type of ceramics you will be printing. Individual presses (even similar in appearance) may have different types of temperature sensors and calibration ... the values listed here are valid ONLY for the BJ880 / 900 Mug Press and the ceramics we supply ( Orca coating ). A simple rule applies to setting the temperature - if you do not have sufficient color contrast on the printed mug, but the color is still contrasting on the sublimation paper, increase the temperature (the sublimation paper must be visibly "squeezed out" after the transfer). Conversely - if the sublimation paper is already sticking to the surface mug, or the sublimation paper is yellowish and the black color starts to change to brown - you have set the temperature too high, i.e. reduce the working temperature on the Mug Press. * If you are printing the product that does not have the same thermal inertia as ceramics - e.g. a metal thermos or a polymer mug, temperature rises from basic to working temperature very quickly - extend the time (depending on the product ) to approx. 90 - 120 seconds (please look in the e-shop, where there are recommended temperatures / times for each product ) |
